Is Church like visiting the mall for you ?
I strongly believe when something impacts your life, you should share with the world and those you love. On that note, I have something to share. I am still learning to follow Jesus and doing better everyday, but I have been reading a book by Scot McKnight "One.Life: Jesus Calls, We Follow". It is an incredible book and I highly recommend reading it. I am halfway done and it has touched me in so many ways. I have always felt like a Christian because I went to Church every Sunday, I was nice to people, I tried to follow a list of rules, but until recently, I have come to realize that is not what being a Christian means. Now don't get me wrong, doing all those things are important, but why stop there ? Being a Christian means so much more. I would like to share a quote from Scot's book, "Some churches, in fact, are like shopping malls: people park their nice cars, enter the building, get what THEY want, get back in the car and go out to eat. But that's not community (and it's really not church either). This comment is so true for many of us. We think just because we go to Church once a week and listen to the preacher, we have accomplished the Christian life. Well, in my opinion, your wrong. When you are hit with the Holy Spirit, you should be drawn to God and one another to form a community of fellowship to do what Jesus wants YOU to do. We should feed the homeless, help those who are facing challenging issues, basically, do our very best to help others, not ourselves. We should help those in need regardless of who they are, pray for everything and live an unleashed life. Remember we only get one shot in life, so make it great.
